For Claire & Gabe’s Montage wedding, we wanted to take everything we already love about this Sonoma County property and layer in a design that felt colorful, playful and completely unexpected.

Their wedding moved from a ceremony that felt like stepping into a fairy garden to an outdoor reception overflowing with color, followed by an indoor dance party filled with draping, fringe, disco balls and a packed dance floor. Each part of Claire & Gabe’s wedding had its own personality while still feeling connected to the overall design. It was also the perfect example of why we love planning and designing weddings at Montage Healdsburg. There is so much room to create!!

A Fairy Garden-Inspired Montage Wedding Ceremony

Claire & Gabe’s ceremony leaned into the natural beauty surrounding Montage Healdsburg while adding an incredible amount of color. Rather than creating one large floral installation at the end of the aisle, florals lined the ceremony aisle in loose, abundant groupings of pinks, blush, cream and deeper berry tones. Against the green lawn and surrounding oak trees, the entire space felt almost like a secret garden had grown right out of the property. The white ceremony chairs kept the rest of the design simple, allowing the florals and natural surroundings to become the focal point.

One of our favorite things about designing a Montage wedding in Healdsburg is finding that balance between enhancing the setting and competing with it. The property already gives you rolling hills, mature trees, vineyards and beautiful landscaping, so Claire & Gabe’s ceremony design was about adding another layer to what was already there.

The result felt romantic and elevated, but playful enough to hint at everything that was coming next.

Colorful Wedding Details Around Every Corner

For Claire & Gabe’s outdoor reception, we took the color story even further. Long wood tables and bentwood chairs created a warm foundation. We intertwined layers of bright florals in pink, raspberry, lavender, buttery yellow and deep plum. Soft green place settings and patterned linens brought even more personality into the tablescape, while oversized rattan chandeliers hanging above dinner added texture and helped create a sense of intimacy within the open-air setting.

The thoughtful details continued throughout the reception, including one of our favorite moments: the escort card display. Individual cards were tucked directly into masses of vibrant pink hydrangeas, turning a functional wedding detail into its own floral installation. Even Claire & Gabe’s tiered wedding cake became part of the design, with vintage-inspired pink piping and surrounding florals that pulled directly from the reception palette.

These are the details we love working through during the design process. From the larger installations overhead to the escort display, linens, tabletop pieces, florals and cake, every element of Claire & Gabe’s Montage wedding worked together to create one cohesive experience while still feeling playful, colorful and uniquely theirs.

From Wine Country Dinner to an Epic Montage Wedding Dance Party

Then came one of our favorite transformations of Claire & Gabe’s entire wedding. After an outdoor dinner surrounded by vineyards and colorful florals, guests moved inside to an environment that felt completely different from everything they had experienced earlier in the day.

The room was fully draped in deep green, creating a moodier atmosphere for the night ahead. Layers of green fabric, metallic fringe and clusters of disco balls filled the ceiling, while a black-and-white checkered dance floor and colorful lighting completely shifted the energy. We continued the floral story indoors with a lush installation spanning the front of the band stage, connecting the dance party back to the colorful design seen throughout the day.

This is something we love doing when designing weddings with multiple spaces. Everything does not have to look the same. The ceremony can feel romantic and garden-inspired, dinner can be colorful and layered, and the dance party can be bold, moody and completely over the top. For Claire & Gabe, those transitions were part of what made their Montage wedding so much fun.
